You can buy all sorts of weird and wonderful gadgets now to save you time with almost anything you do round the house, but the kitchen has to be the place which has the most gadgets available for it. There are hand mixers, frothers, automatic knife sharpeners, devices to give your food a smoky taste (I’m not joking), chip cutters, electric can openers, ice cream makers and that is only a small portion of what is available. Do we need any of them though?
Let’s face it, most gadgets are expensive, hard to clean up after use, and they rarely get used once the excitement dies down after about a week. The next time you are eyeing up some expensive gadget in a shop then you need to walk away and have a think about whether it is actually useful or just a gimmick, and if you will actually use it much. So an ice cream maker sounds good, but you’ll soon find out it is a huge amount of effort for something you can buy a lot cheaper from the supermarket, but if you like toast then a toaster which can fit a lot of different things in it will probably be great for you. If you cook a lot of turkeys then a Masterbuilt electric turkey fryer will really help you out as it leaves your oven free for all the other stuff you need to cook, but one of those blow torches you can get to crisp up the skin is going to end up in the cupboard.
So there are gadgets out there that can make your life a lot easier, one of the easiest ways to find them is to ask your friends what gadgets they have and which they actually use on a regular basis, that saves you wasting money on the gimmicks as they already have!
